Applied Torque Solutions was founded from a relentless pursuit of better performance parts and smarter engineering solutions for modern transmissions.
Where it started
The company’s origins trace back to the purchase of a 2021 Toyota Supra and the development of a custom-built ZF 8HP51 transmission — at a time when high-performance solutions for the platform were extremely limited and prohibitively expensive.
With experience working on the ZF 8HP platform since 2012 and more than two decades of professional transmission-building expertise, the foundation was already in place to engineer something better. The goal was simple: develop a transmission solution capable of handling extreme power levels while maintaining the smooth drivability and reliability modern performance vehicles demand.
The success of that first build quickly attracted attention within the Dallas performance community. What began as helping local Supra enthusiasts grew into a demand for reliable, high-performance transmission solutions. As word spread, Applied Torque Solutions was born.
What the shop is today
Today, Applied Torque Solutions has become a leading innovator in performance automatic transmission technology — designing and manufacturing the world’s largest selection of ZF 8HP performance components, alongside complete transmission builds and upgrade solutions engineered for high-performance street, track, and racing applications.
Despite continued growth, the shop remains proudly family owned and family operated. Every transmission that leaves the building is assembled in-house, with a hands-on approach that keeps quality and attention to detail at the highest level.

Owner of Applied Torque Solutions. His passion is detective work — finding the problem nobody else can see, solving it, and making the thing better than it was. That drive is what put Applied Torque on the map as a performance parts leader.

How long have you been doing this?
Brian has been building transmissions for more than two decades, and working on the ZF 8HP platform since 2012.
Who actually builds my transmission?
Our team does, by hand, in the shop in Anna, Texas. Every unit that leaves here was assembled here by us — that is the whole reason the shop exists in the form it does.
How did the shop start?
With one car. Brian built a ZF 8HP51 for a 2021 Toyota Supra at a point when the options for that platform were scarce and priced out of reach. Word moved through the Dallas performance community from there.
Are you a big operation?
No, and deliberately so. Applied Torque Solutions is family owned and family operated.
